A MUST BUY!!
The first track on this album is called 'All In My Head' and I must admit that being asked via Twitter to review a rap album, when I prefer to listen to some good hard n' heavy rock as a rule, put thoughts in my head that this album was going to be something that I wouldn't like and writing a worthwhile review would be a challenge. I'm glad to say that I thought wrong!
Within that first track it was obvious that Biggz has really worked on his lyrics with "Cause I'm getting older, and I'm one step away from my bus pass" being lyrics that leave you thinking about your life and your future. There are other moments dotted around 'Performance Arts' that get you thinking about various things and this is what truly gives the album its substance.
Biggz asks "What the f**k do you think I rap for?" - Well, the answer is quite simple, he's pretty damn good at it!!
The ten tracks on the album
From the opening blows of 'Blindfolded Death', you get the distinct impression that these guys are very angry at the world and quite rightly so when you listen to the message they put across dwelling on various topics like racism, paedophilia, human trafficking, and celebrity worship among others. These are all big problems in the world and these guys need a huge pat on the back for taking the opportunity to use the band as a vehicle to bring forth a worthwhile message to the people. As not nearly enough acts do that these days it's a huge plus in my book. A brooding malevolence pervades this record from start to finish, which is giving that extra 'oomph!' by the crystal clear production of Pig Pen Studios and West Side Studios. I mention these places as they have done a wonderful job.
I am already on my third playthough and that should give an indication of how much I enjoy 'Throes Of Mankind'. With tracks like 'Justice Through Retaliation', 'Flesh Empire' and 'Inhuman Nature', 'Throes Of Mankind' I dare say will become a hardcore classic. If not, the world will be doing itself an injustice.
